Freedom Is A Function Of The Morality Of The Population

Laws are written in response to the real or potential threats posed by certain members of the community.Locks are a reaction to the efforts of those who would steal your property and likewise security laws are a reaction to those who would do you harm.In a society with no hijackers there is no need for airplane security.In a society with peaceful people there is no need for gun control because even if everyone has a gun no one gets shot.In an honest society there is no need for locked doors because your unlocked items will be respected.In a society with no terrorists or supporters there is no need for identity cards because no one is a threat to anyone else.All the freedoms we have are proportional to the morality of our countrymen and when society changes either internally or because of newcomers the laws must reflect this new reality.The diminution of freedom is proportional to the diminution of morality until as a limit every movement from taking a trip to making a purchase is controlled in the name of security.The solution is the destruction of immoral forces they are the root cause of our problems not writing laws taking freedom from moral people.That is what a farsighted leadership will do.

Fences Are A Discontinuity Which Make Life Possible

In the world at large there are few natural barriers between areas and there can be a free flow of objects back and forth.A fence though is a discontinuity between areas which is made to keep things out and /or in.This discontinuity allows the special conditions needed within to survive against the forces outside which would destroy it.The glass of a light bulb is a fence which allows the special conditions inside to exist without which a light bulb would be impossible.Our skin is a fence which separates our internal organs from the outside world once again without which we ourselves could not exist. The fence in a yard keeps out the trespassers which allows one to live in peace and safety or will keep dogs or children in .In one case it protects the inside from what is without and in the other protects what is outside from what is within.Remove the fence and you are at he mercy of the outside world and and the special conditions needed for your well being have been compromised.Oceans like fences isolate societies and ecosystems and allow them to grow in safety which would be impossible otherwise.Gates of course break the discontinuity given by fences and are necessary for the periodic flow back and forth between two or more areas.The gatekeepers control this flow and as such control much of what happens in the world.A fence with an open gate or a gate controlled by your enemy is as bad or worse than no fence at all.Fences and barriers make the world and ourselves and society possible.Be careful to mind your fences and who controls them for they can be the cause of much joy or misery.
